In November of 2010, John Ryle’s cousin and friends persuaded him to get his “lazy ass” off the couch and attend a real workout. After an hour of punishment and crawling out the door, he comes back to CrossFit 312 almost daily.
John grew up playing sports, and throughout high school he remained a three sport athlete. Football, hockey and baseball kept his life regimented and after high school, he took the opportunity to play football (and earn a degree) at The University of Chicago. After four years of constant strength conditioning, he was ready to scale things back – but that didn’t last long.
In 2010 after 3 rounds of 21 snatches, 50m bear crawls and 15 burpees completely humbled him, he was hooked. Since that time, Ryle has joined the CF 312 coaching staff and consistently participated in the CrossFit Opens each year.
“Crossfit slowly started leading not only to a workout regime change, but a lifestyle change. I’m excited to give back to the gym and people that have made such a positive impact on my life with my knowledge of movements and exercises, as well as my own experiences.”
