In general, what is your background?
In a quick summary, I moved from Boston to Chicago a year and a half ago for a bigger and better city in addition to being persuaded with my niece being born in a few months, there was no way I was going to miss that!

How long have you been a member at our gym, how did you learn about CF and why did you start?
If we include all the drop-ins that I did when I would come to visit my cousin, it would equal a year and a half. Official member of the gym since September 2016! I originally started using my class pass visits for Saturday WODs and wasn’t having it with modifying the majority of the workouts and decided I needed to go full-time in order to catch up to the super woman at the gym.

How has being a member at 312 changed your life/lifestyle/level of fitness?
I didn’t know it was possible but it turned it from good to amazing. I started to be more aware of proper nutrition as well as what consists of a good workout. I always talked smack about 8-12 min workouts (to myself) but then when I ran a 10K without any pre-running training and finished with my best pace time ever, I decided to be quiet and realized it all has a positive impact on my level of fitness without noticing it.

Short term goals (gym and/or personal):
Crush my first (might be my last) ever out of gym partner competition in February – The magic wands are ready for you Galt Games!

Long term goals (gym and/or personal):
Win the Hamilton lottery before the show leaves Chicago. I gave up on the national lottery and scratch tickets and found a much more possible life goal. Aside from that I hope to one day travel to the Eiffel Tower since it has been a childhood dream of mine. Something about that statue has had me in awe since I was younger, influencing me to pick french as my school language course.

What do you like most about being a member at 312?
Aside from the question of the day because lets be honest I am horrible at answering them but really enjoy other peoples answers. I enjoy the positive encouraging community. I have been to many gyms in my day but I feel like the 312 community pushes me more in workouts than I ever had on an individual level. There is a balance of athletes at the gym that I think makes it feel like a no judgement zone and allows you to be the athlete you feel most comfortable with.

Favorite and least favorite movements:
Double-unders because either I have them or I don’t and usually I don’t find out which direction they are going until I slash up my arms and that my friend, stings like a bee.

Favorite and least favorite WODs:
Apparently I missed out on the last Friday’s assault bike death WOD that would probably be my answer to least favorite even though I enjoy a good endurance workout. But my favorite type of WODs are the long 45 mins with some form of running, deadlifts, DB snatches and power cleans involved. I feel like I may be part of the small fraction of the gym who enjoy workouts like this.

Favorite post-WOD meal:
I don’t have a post-WOD meal but I DO have a pre-WOD meal for any and all Saturdays – Pamela mix pancakes and a La Colombe black and tan coffee is the ticket for success for any early weekend workout- You’re welcome!

Favorite movies:
I feel like all the movies I enjoy is a mix of all trades. Southpaw is at the top with the admiration for Billy to be determined to get his daughter back after the mistakes he made in life. Or maybe because of Jake Gyllenhaal 🙂 not really sure which one. But then there is The Beauty and the Beast remake which Disney is starting to do with a few of their classics, that was just amazing! So I guess I can say I like many and don’t have a favorite genre.

Favorite book:
Every new years my resolution is to complete a novel. It is my resolution every year because I never accomplish it. Maybe this should be my long term goal. Anyways, of Mice and Men was a quick 60 page book I was able to get through in high school that I really liked.

Favorite artist:
Dave Matthews will forever be my favorite artist regardless of how crazy he is. Going to a concert live never gets old no matter how many times he plays ants marching and along the watch tower as his encore. The man is straight up a talented guitar genius!

Favorite quote or words you live by?
I am a quote fanatic. The way to my heart is through a good inspiring quote. But out of all the amazing quotes out there I just go plain and simple to the ‘Live, Laugh, Love.’ Because the take away from most quotes or words to live by is to just live your life to your fullest capacity, with as much passion in your heart and then to top if off with laughter or a smile to truly enjoy it.

What are a few of your most notable achievements?
Winning ‘best in class’ at a drop-in class I did at the Crossfit games over Andre, Jerry, Bergstrom, and Szenda – a whole case of Fitaid for me along with bragging right forever!

I’m passionate about:
Food! I love cooking and eating. Picky eaters make me confused because I cant imagine a world without having all the options for a meal. But then everyone has their thing and for me it is pretty much eating my meal and maybe any leftovers of a friend or family that looked delicious since I locked eyes with their plate.

Fun fact that we don’t know about you:
Diagonal parking is not my strongest suite. Something about the turn into the spot that always has me over the line on one side of the spot. Maybe that is more funny than fun but I cant really think of one.
