In general, what is your background?
I am a Chicago native for the last 18 years, but grew up in Indiana until college.

How long have you been a member at our gym, how did you learn about CF and why did you start?
I have been a member for one year this month actually. I learned about Crossfit 312 through Patrick Starck (we are neighbors). I have always been curious about crossfit, but afraid to try it out. Only been focused on endurance stuff, but wanted to get back into strength and wasn’t getting into a routine just going to West Loop Athletic Club.

How has being a member at 312 changed your life/lifestyle/level of fitness?
Crossfit 312 has made me a lot stronger AND pushes me in a way I am not used to with weights and gymnastic moves. The coaches are truly amazing and patient and have been so helpful with all of the different movements that were/are so awkward for me. I can do things like toes-to-bar and kipping…ANYTHING which I always thought were awkward/hard to master (some I am still working on). It is the type of workout that allows me to set goals within my workouts like my triathlon/running training did back in the day.

Short term goals (gym and/or personal):
Short-term goals for the gym are to be able to do 1 bar muscle up and handstand walks within the next 6-12 months.

Long term goals (gym and/or personal):
Long-term goals I would love to do more crossfit competitions as a team or individual. Also, to continue to get a lot stronger.

What do you like most about being a member at 312?
The best part of being a member of 312 is the people hands down. Everyone is truly so welcoming and nice. Everyone pushes each other to do their best and I really enjoy the team workouts.

Favorite and least favorite movements:
My favorite movement would have to be power cleans. My least favorite is the snatch because I seem to really struggle with that movement.

Favorite and least favorite WODs:
I like all WODS that don’t involve double-unders. I don’t really have a favorite as I enjoy the pain of them all equally. 🙂

Favorite post-WOD meal:
My favorite post-WOD meal is a protein shake because that is usually all I have time to consume.

Favorite movies:

Favorite book:
I don’t really have a favorite book. I have enjoyed a lot of my negotiation books and how to tame a 3 year old type books over the last year. 🙂

Favorite artist:
Musician artist? I love Metallica.

Favorite quote or words you live by?
Carpe Diem

What are a few of your most notable achievements?
Competed the 2011 Ironman World Championships in Kona. Time: 10:45 and surviving labor…..twice….;)

I’m passionate about:
Everything I do…….being a mom…..working out….life….

Fun fact that we don’t know about you:
I am obsessed with stand-up comedy. I was able to train like a pro triathlete during my IM training in Boulder, CO for a week at a time with my coach who lives there. I found that to be pretty cool.
